Andrew Lyons Design provides creative problem-solving and design for projects of all sizes, ranging from new residences and residential compounds to substantial additions and remodels.  

Sensitive to context, our designs orient to the prevailing views, optimize the use of space and circulation, and capture the light and space of the Southwest. They equally reflect the particular lifestyle and aesthetic sensibilities of our clients. 

For a successful project, many things must fall into line.  The architectural intentions and goals must dovetail with a realistic budget & schedule, and comply with all current codes. Integrating energy conservation is another local requirement, with green technologies and passive solar elements as an optional further step. Finally, the drawings must clearly communicate the design and construction intent.

Construction drawings, essential as they are, need to be of high quality.  ALD always assembles accurate, concise drawings that are easy to read and give real-world information to the builder.  This minimizes errors and change orders down the road during the construction phase. Depending upon a client’s needs and budget, the final set of construction plans can range from a bare-bones set of permit drawings for a home-owner/builder to an all-inclusive construction set containing the numerous details, sections and interior elevations necessary for building sophisticated custom residences.  

Our additional services include consulting on finishes and fixtures, on-site construction administration and field reports, verification of contractor pay-applications, and project close-out.

Andrew Lyons Design can assist residential, institutional, and commercial owners with the processes necessary to guide a project from a blank-page start to a successful finish.

Projects take many forms, such as a new residence being designed and built from scratch, a 5-decade old college dormitory building in need of a complete renovation, or a large commercial boiler system in need of replacement.  Owners often find themselves not able to organize and execute these projects due to any number of reasons, such as a lack of time or manpower, inexperience, or perhaps just not having the right connections to get things done in a timely manner.

Even if not the source of the design work associated with a particular project, Andrew Lyons Design can assist owners of all types with the tasks required to successfully complete a project.  These tasks include but are not limited to programming, dialogue with authorities having jurisdiction, evaluation and engagement of design professionals & consultants, review of schematic/design development & construction documents, bidding & awarding of construction contracts, permitting, construction administration, and final project close-out.
